This is an object that belonged to my wife’s grandmother and now has a permanent home hanging next to our woodstove for most of the year on a nail in the mantel. Come Spring, it occasionally will have tours of duty outside and it was on one such day that I spotted it hanging on a nail outside the backdoor and knew my wife had been experiencing some back home memories of her grandmother “Bop-Chop” while she swept.
