This dovetailed wooden box serves as the Wiltraut’s woodbox during the winter months. Here the sunlight streaming in across a batch of ‘well seasoned’ burled maple wood reminded the artist of the sunlight striking the eroded canyon walls in the Badlands of South Dakota which he had seen as a teenager.
