Ralph Fabri Medal, 72nd Annual of Allied Artists of America
As a child the artist spent countless hours in the summer behind his grandparents house splashing around the cistern pump, keeping cool and filling buckets with water. This painting brings back many childhood memories for the artist. My great grandfather was a milkman in the town where I live and used to deliver milk with a horse drawn wagon. As the late afternoon sun struck this bucket it reminded me not only of the simpler times of my great grandfather but of my own childhood spent Out Back.
