GUTTED
Drybrush Watercolor
21 x 29 inches

This brick summer kitchen was attached to the main house which appears in the painting “Bone Dry”. The windows from the main house had been removed in preparation for demolition as well as the doors of the kitchen. The artist has always been attracted to the color of a rusted tin roof and here the brick wall reminded him of the wall in Vermeer’s “View Of Delft”. A building showing incredible texture, it epitomized the phrase “the patina of life” as it neared it’s own demise.
