LOVE LETTERS
1999
Egg Tempera
38 x 38 inches

Winner of the 2010 National Society of Painters in Casein & Acrylic Award
For the past decade and a half one of the artist’s favorite places to go is the woods where he pursues his hobby of amateur archaeology, the same place depicted in the watercolor “Looking At The Moon”. This woods also has one of the few remaining local stands of the artist’s favorite tree, the American Beech. This particular tree with it’s smooth gray bark was not only a favorite of his but also of young lovers and other ambitious chroniclers of events who carved their initials and dates onto this tree which bares the scarred rememberances of this group of “Love Letters”.
