Water Over The Dam

The countryside around eastern Pennsylvania is dotted with country farm ponds. These ponds are the favorite haunts of the Great Blue Heron which shares the fishing rights with the farm boys who will spend lazy summer days fishing for blue gills or catching tadpoles and frogs. Eastern Painted Turtles also make their home here and the artist loves to watch them basking in the sun on fallen tree trunks and get as close to them as possible before they drop off the log and disappear under the water. This painting is of the dam to one of these ponds near the town of Stony Run where the artist used to live. Nothing is as relaxing as sitting along the shore of one of these ponds and hearing the sounds of the“Water Over The Dam”.
