One of my earliest memories of trout fishing was on a family vacation to Algonquin Provincial Park in Canada. My father had hired a guide, Margaret, who took us out in a canoe to fish for Brook Trout. This is where I learned the “J” stroke for controlling a canoe and keeping it on a straight course. That night we experienced trout frying in butter over a campfire. The fishing creel is the romantic symbol of the trout fishing experience. It’s light, wicker construction is both beautiful and utilitarian, serving as the perfect object to "Catch ‘N Carry".
