FADING AWAY
Egg Tempera
22 x 33 inches

The childhood hobby of collecting butterflies remains one of my fondest memories. Standing between the two butterfly bushes my mother had in our backyard, you would literally be surrounded by swarms of butterflies. Many frames of butterflies hung on the walls of many homes in America in that era and, over time, slowly faded from the sun. The days of butterfly collecting as a hobby have also faded away as the butterflies themselves have been drastically reduced in number due to increased use of pesticides and herbicides and are, in fact, “Fading Away”.
